Bloomberg reports deal could be worth up to $600 million with performance-based payouts above the upfront cash amount
Netflix Acquires Ben Affleck's InterPositive, Folds It Into Eyeline Studios
The acquisition gives Netflix an in-house AI post-production capability it previously lacked, and the exclusive deployment of InterPositive's tools removes them from the broader market. The deal's scale, which Bloomberg placed at up to $600 million, makes it among Netflix's largest acquisitions.

Netflix acquired InterPositive, a film-focused AI startup co-founded by Ben Affleck, and has integrated the company and its team into Netflix's Eyeline Studios division. The deal closed in March 2026 for $587 million in cash, though Bloomberg reported the total could reach up to $600 million depending on performance targets. Affleck is serving as a senior adviser at Netflix following the acquisition, and InterPositive's tools are now used exclusively on Netflix in-house productions. InterPositive, which operated in stealth under the entity Fin Bone LLC, was founded in 2022 after Affleck disagreed with AI researchers who told him a model would generalize to filmmaking from scraped data alone. He built his own training dataset using cameras and location sensors, and the company, which grew to 16 people, shot its own video footage to avoid copyright complications. Its tools address post-production tasks including continuity fixes, relighting, wire removal, and background enhancement without generating new content or using footage without permission. In December 2025, the US Patent Office granted InterPositive a patent for training AI captioner models to recognize and analyze cinematic elements in video.
