Coefficient Giving has granted $12.6 million to AI Village to expand its scale and $50 million to Kairos to build talent infrastructure for AI safety. AI Village is hiring at salaries of $150K to $350K. CEO Alexander Berger said governments have failed to hire the right people or build regulatory consensus, positioning philanthropy as the essential funder of AI safety public goods. Redwood Research, a Coefficient Giving grantee, was one of two organizations OpenAI brought in to analyze the Hugging Face hack. Berger projects that planned Anthropic and OpenAI IPOs could generate an estimated $370 billion in new philanthropic capital. Apollo Research is also hiring in London and San Francisco across research, red teaming, and infrastructure roles.
