Terms of service

Last updated July 1, 2026 · theinfomachine.fyi

These terms cover your use of The Information Machine (the "service"): the website and the email briefs it sends. By subscribing or using the site, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use the service.

The service

The Information Machine reads across many public sources and sends you briefs — summaries of ongoing stories, with links back to the sources. It's provided as-is, on a periodic schedule; we may add, change, or discontinue parts of it.

Subscribing

The free briefs cost nothing and you can unsubscribe from any email in one click. A Supporter subscription is billed through our payment processor, Stripe, at the price shown when you sign up. It renews automatically until you cancel; cancel any time and your access continues until the end of the current billing period. We don't provide pro-rated refunds for partial periods except where the law requires it. Any free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends.

Using it fairly

Please don't misuse the service: no scraping or bulk-copying the briefs for redistribution, no reselling access, no attempts to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the systems behind it, and nothing unlawful. You may share individual briefs with attribution and a link.

About the content

The briefs are generated automatically. Every claim links to its source so you can check it yourself — and you should, before relying on anything for a decision that matters. We work to be accurate, but we don't warrant that the briefs are complete, current, or error-free, and they are not professional, financial, legal, or investment advice. Links and quotes point to third-party sources we don't control and aren't responsible for.

Intellectual property

The name, the briefs, and the site's design and text are ours (or our licensors'), except third-party source material, which belongs to its owners and is used to inform and cite. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to read the briefs you subscribe to.

Disclaimer & liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, and we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of it. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; we'll change the date above and, for material changes, tell you by email. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

The service is operated by The Information Machine LLC. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and any dispute will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction.
