Alibaba released Qwen3.8-27B on Hugging Face on August 14, 2026, under Apache 2.0 licensing, with 55.6 GB of BF16 weights free for commercial use. The 27-billion-parameter model scored 52 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, matching GPT-5.6 Luna at maximum settings and trailing GLM-5.2 (753 billion parameters) and DeepSeek V4 Pro 0813 (1.6 trillion parameters) by one point. Qwen's official account called it "the first time a local model has scored frontier model capability." LM Studio added support August 15, requiring approximately 17 GB to run locally. On Code Arena's WebDev leaderboard, the model placed #9 with 1,595 points, the only model in its size class in the top 10, with Google's Gemma 4-31B ranking #80. In the Image-to-WebDev Arena, it ranked #1 among open models and #7 overall with 1,574 points, matching Kimi K3 (Max) at 2.8 trillion parameters. API access is priced at $0.40 per million input tokens and $3 per million output tokens.
