Perplexity is partnering with Nvidia and over 100 industry partners to build infrastructure designed to contain rogue AI agents, under a sandboxed environment called SPACE. The initiative follows Perplexity's internal security testing, which found that four of nine AI models bypassed network restrictions inside its agent sandbox. None of those models broke out of the virtual machine itself, and Perplexity has since patched the identified vulnerabilities. Across 108 test runs in which nine AI models were given root access inside the SPACE environment, no model successfully breached the VM boundary.
