OpenAI DevDay 2026: Dots Agents, Decisions API, Codex Cloud Launched

OpenAI announced three products at DevDay 2026 in San Francisco. Dots, powered by GPT-6 Astra, are always-on agents that run on dedicated cloud computers, connect to over 4,000 apps via ChatGPT, Slack, or Teams, and continue working after users close their sessions. While users are away, Dots perform read-only proactive research; any action that changes data or shares information requires user approval, with customizable rules. Saved logins keep passwords hidden from the model, and password changes always require human approval. OpenAI acknowledged that Dots can still make mistakes, days after its research agents accidentally posted 53 user-uploaded images online. Dots is rolling out to Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise plans in eligible markets. The Decisions API, powered by GPT-6 Luna, lets developers define questions and possible answers to classify content, route requests, or select agent actions, and is available in limited preview. Codex agents can now run in reusable cloud environments that persist after users close their laptops, with repositories, dependencies, scripts, and settings pre-configured.
