NVIDIA Pushes Open Models for European Sovereign AI Projects
European organizations seeking to use advanced AI while retaining data sovereignty have a growing set of options built on open models and European infrastructure. The Codefest and Polarise launch show demand from both public sector and enterprise customers for AI deployments that comply with European data protection requirements.
The full picture
NVIDIA is expanding its open-model portfolio and supporting European public sector and enterprise AI projects built on locally controlled infrastructure. At NVIDIA GTC Berlin, the company announced broader open models covering language, robotics, biology, and quantum computing, aimed at letting European organizations customize AI with local data on infrastructure they control. Separately, NVIDIA's Open Models Codefest drew European startups and software providers to build AI solutions for public sector challenges including medical reasoning, AI tutoring, and model governance; the top five teams were Pleias, Zehnlab.ai, Disseqt, Algoritmica GmbH, and ABA Technology, with Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems providing compute infrastructure. European AI infrastructure company Polarise also launched its Polarise AI Cloud at GTC Berlin, offering sovereign AI services built entirely on European infrastructure using NVIDIA platforms including Nemotron models.
