The full picture

IBM Research released Granite 4.2, an open model family built for enterprise agentic AI. The 8B variant became available on CoreWeave Serverless Inference on the same day as its release, with CoreWeave handling the serving infrastructure so users do not need to manage it themselves. Granite 4.2 features native reasoning, allowing the model to plan, reason, self-correct, and call tools autonomously without requiring special prompting. IBM also published a technical overview of the model family's architecture and training methodology on HuggingFace.
